Of the 130 games carrying Valve’s Great on Frame badge, 52 point at lepton-stable — Valve’s Android-to-Linux translation layer, also known as fauxdroid. Another 67 sit on proton-stable. Five are native Linux builds. Two use Proton Experimental. Four carry no runtime value at all. The ledger is public Steam metadata, not a rumor, and VR.org’s September 11 read across the certified list puts the split in plain view: two fifths of the shelf Valve is willing to bless is an Android build, not a Windows PC VR title being translated for ARM.

That is a different story from the one Frame marketing has sold since the reveal. The headset was framed as the device that finally brings the PC VR library to standalone hardware. The certified catalog is filling the other direction: Quest-class Android software landing on Steam through Lepton, sometimes on pages that never had a Windows build at all.
What Lepton actually is
Valve exposed Lepton and FEX as real Steam app entries in early August, sitting alongside Proton before Frame had a price. The compatibility-tools registry inside app 3043620 is blunt about direction: Lepton (app 3029110) translates from_oslist: android to to_oslist: linux. Proton 11.0 for ARM64 translates from Windows and depends on Steam Linux Runtime 4.0 for arm64. A lepton-stable assignment therefore means Valve tested the Android build.
Sorting certified Lepton titles by last test date, VR.org counts 27 last touched in July, 16 in August, and nine so far in September — the first month where Valve’s retests skew toward Android (nine against eight for everything else combined). Four of those September Lepton passes landed this week, including Waltz of the Wizard, Boxing Underdog, Noun Town, and Real VR Fishing.

Steam pages with no PC build
The sharpest signal is not a runtime string. It is store pages that look broken until you understand the plumbing. Pavlov Shack — Vankrupt’s Quest-native standalone shooter — went live on Steam on August 21 with every desktop platform flag set to false. No Windows. No macOS. No Linux. No system-requirements block, because there is no PC build to describe. The purchase box reads “VR Only” above an Install button gated on owning Pavlov.

Table Space followed on August 24 under the same arrangement. Action Hero, from Fast Travel Games, is listed for the third quarter and was certified on Lepton on August 24 — a compatibility pass on an unreleased Android title Steam intends to distribute. Three pages is a small sample. Three pages is also Steam selling VR software that does not run on a desktop, which required storefront changes most of the PC VR ecosystem never needed.
Android depots under PC VR pages
Existing PC VR listings are quietly growing Android depots. Moss VR still carries its original Windows depots and now carries depot 846472 flagged android; Valve certified it on Lepton on September 3. RUMBLE has depot 890559 on the same flag. Real VR Fishing carries android depot 1266472 while its store copy still sells Windows only.

Across the 130 Great on Frame titles, 52 carry an Android depot and 48 of those are among the 52 pointed at Lepton. The mismatches matter: HARD BULLET and Into Black ship Android depots yet Valve certified them on proton-stable, apparently preferring the Windows build through translation. Four Lepton titles show no public Android depot even though their platform data lists Android — Steam does not expose every depot to the outside.
The porting math flipped
A studio with a finished Quest build now has, on this evidence, most of a Steam Frame build: upload, certify, ship. A studio with only a PC VR build leans on Proton and FEX, at the performance cost Valve’s own first-party demos have already paid — The Lab and Aperture Hand Lab remain Unsupported for graphics performance since July. Platform holders rarely announce a preferred build target out loud. They make one path shorter and let the catalog find its level.
None of this dates the headset. VR.org notes that two of Frame’s seven backend packages moved again on Thursday evening, three minutes apart, while the other five have not changed since May. There is still no price and no ship day. Summer 2026 ends September 22. What is already visible is the architecture under the badge: Frame’s blessed shelf is not a pure Proton story, and Android is carrying more of it than the marketing line suggests.
