Glasses and VR rarely SHARE a face quietly. On SEPTEMBER 15, Zenni Optical announced it is an authorized Valve Steam Frame Compatible provider for purpose-built PRESCRIPTION LENS INSERTS — a $67.95 snap-in fix that launches alongside the headset’s PURCHASE EMAIL window.

Valve’s Steam Frame is the company’s first new headset since Index: a STREAMING-FIRST standalone with dual 2160×2160 panels and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. What it does NOT include in the box is a custom single-vision insert. Zenni’s product page and press release fill that GAP for buyers who refuse to wedge street glasses under a strap.
What $67.95 Buys
Every ORDER includes:
- Single-vision Rx lenses within standard Zenni PRESCRIPTION ranges
- 1.67 HIGH-INDEX lenses built to stay thin through long sessions
- A premium OIL-RESISTANT coating (smudge, fingerprint, water, glare) at no extra charge
- A carrying CASE and cleaning cloth
- No PD measurement required — Zenni says the single-vision setup is snap-in, DONE

Buyers UPLOAD or enter a current valid prescription at checkout. Zenni customizes LEFT and RIGHT inserts, manufactures them at its Ohio factory, and ships with an install GUIDE that walks through clicking each insert behind the matching headset lens — no TOOLS.
Accessories Still Gate at Checkout
Zenni’s inserts are NOT Valve first-party gear. MIXED reports that Valve sells its own add-ons — a 45W POWER SUPPLY at $29, an Ergonomic Accessories Kit at $59, and an Accessory Replacement Kit at $49 — only as add-to-cart OPTIONS for people who already hold a PURCHASE EMAIL. Together those three Valve kits ADD $137 in the U.S. before anyone opens Zenni’s cart.

Third-party COLOR PASSTHROUGH still sits outside Valve checkout. Arcturus Vision’s front-port camera lists at $149 and ships on Valve’s TIMELINE, not Steam’s. Glasses wearers who keep frames ON face a separate HARD LIMIT: Valve’s spec sheet caps glasses WIDTH at 140 mm with an IPD target of 60–70 mm — another reason a dedicated INSERT matters.
Launch Timing
Zenni says the Steam Frame insert LAUNCHED SEPTEMBER 14. The PR Newswire DROP landed SEPTEMBER 15. Steam Frame purchase emails began rolling SEPTEMBER 18 with a 72-HOUR buy window. Inserts are live NOW for anyone who already knows their Rx and wants clear optics when the reservation converts.
