Best Steam Frame Games (2026): 12 Picks Ranked

The best Steam Frame games in late 2026 fall into two groups: VR games that run directly on the headset, and PC VR games you stream from a gaming PC. This list ranks the 12 strongest picks for owners who want to play without a PC. Eleven of them carry Valve’s Steam Frame Verified badge, and the top pick comes free in the box. We checked every Frame rating, price and review score on the game’s own Steam store page on November 4, 2026. The scores are English-language Steam user reviews, not critic scores.

If you are still deciding whether to buy the $1,059 headset, start with our Steam Frame reviews roundup and our Steam Frame vs Quest 3 buying guide.

How We Ranked Them

Valve rates games for Steam Frame on the same four-tier scale it uses for Steam Deck: Verified, Playable, Unsupported, or no rating yet. A Verified game passes four checks: the default controls work, the game shows Steam Frame controller icons, the text is readable, and the default graphics settings run well. Valve’s developer documentation asks Verified VR games to hold at least 72 fps at 1728 x 1728 during normal play. The badge only covers games running on the headset. It says nothing about streaming from a PC, which depends on your own hardware.

The Verified list has grown quickly. Valve’s Great on Frame section passed 200 titles in early October, as GamingOnLinux reported and we covered in Steam Frame Verified Passes 200 Games. VR.org counted 233 by October 23. Most of those are flat-screen games, not VR. Our ranking weighs four things: how good the game is, how well it runs standalone, how highly players rate it, and how well it shows off the headset.

1. Half-Life: Alyx

Valve’s 2020 shooter is still the best VR game you can play, and every Steam Frame comes with a copy you redeem in Settings after you log in. You cannot redeem a second copy if you already own it. Valve ported the whole game to ARM64 for the launch on September 14. The Verge’s Sean Hollister wrote that the port “manages to feel like a full PC VR game on the Frame,” even though the graphics are a step down from a desktop. Valve said eye-tracked foveated rendering and the headset’s 16GB of memory let it keep every asset, so Workshop mods still work.

One oddity: the Steam store page still shows no Steam Frame rating for Alyx, even though it runs natively. Digital Foundry found the game renders at a base of about 36 fps and uses reprojection to feel smoother. More detail is in our report on Half-Life: Alyx running standalone on Steam Frame.

2. Half-Life 2: VR Mod

This free fan mod adds full room-scale VR to the whole Half-Life 2 campaign, with hand reloading and physical ladder climbing. It became Steam Frame Verified in August. The team said the build would not even boot on early hardware, and only cleared Valve’s performance bar after adding eye-tracked foveated rendering. You need to own Half-Life 2 on Steam. Valve did not make the mod. Store page; our coverage is here.

3. Beat Saber

Still the best way to show someone what VR is in five minutes. The reviewer behind the Frame Verified Steam curator page reported no slowdowns or tracking problems even at maximum settings. Steam listed it at $19.99 when we checked. Music packs cost extra. Store page.

4. Moss: Book II

Polyarc’s sequel has the highest score on this list (98%), though from a smaller pool of reviews. You guide the mouse hero Quill through fights while reaching into the scene to move objects and solve puzzles. It works well seated, which makes it a good choice for newer players. The first Moss is also Verified at $19.99. Store page.

5. Walkabout Mini Golf VR

The best social game on the list. The courses are detailed, the putting physics feel right, and casual players can join without learning anything new. It is Verified and scores 97% from 2,759 reviews. Course packs are sold separately. Store page.

6. UNDERDOGS

One Hamsa’s mech brawler has you climb into a cockpit and punch with your arms. One Hamsa says Valve asked for a day-one Steam Frame port. When the Frame build arrived in September, multiplayer had not been ported yet, as we noted in our UNDERDOGS day-one report. Check the game’s Steam news page for the current multiplayer status on Frame. Steam had it at $20.09, down from $29.99, when we checked. Store page.

7. Pistol Whip

A rhythm shooter where you fire to the beat while dodging bullets, with heavy action-movie influence. Its short scenes suit the battery, and it is a good workout. Verified, $29.99. Store page.

8. The Last Clockwinder

A puzzle game in which you record copies of yourself doing tasks and then build loops of clones that work together. It is calm and clever, and scores 96%. Store page.

9. The Light Brigade: Definitive Edition

Funktronic Labs’ roguelike shooter with WWII-style rifles and magic got its final content update, and official Steam Frame support, in September. Its Steam page says it runs “silky smooth at full native resolution.” The update added a new biome and brought the total to 99 tarot cards. Details are in our Light Brigade report. Store page.

10. Synth Riders

A rhythm game built around flowing arm movement rather than slashing, and a strong fitness option. The Frame Verified curator recorded a full 72 fps standalone with no reprojection, and about 1 hour 30 minutes of battery. Store page.

11. I Expect You To Die 3

Schell Games’ spy escape rooms are well suited to standalone play: you sit, solve problems with your hands, and avoid dying in creative ways. All three games in the series are now Verified, as we reported in I Expect You To Die Trilogy Now Steam Frame Verified. Store page.

12. Gorilla Tag

A multiplayer game of tag where you move only with your arms. It has 48,306 English-language Steam reviews, more than any other game on this list except Alyx and Beat Saber. It is Verified, and Steam listed it at $19.99. Parents should know it has open voice chat. Store page.

Best Games to Stream From a PC Instead

Some of the best PC VR games either fail or have not been reviewed for standalone play. Stream these over the Frame’s wireless adapter if you have a capable PC.

Game Steam Frame rating (Nov. 4) Steam price Steam reviews
Blade and Sorcery Unsupported (graphics performance) $29.99 96% of 49,592
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades No rating yet $19.99 97% of 19,773
BONELAB No rating yet $39.99 81% of 15,335
Into the Radius 2 No rating yet $39.99 78% of 3,972

A missing rating means Valve has not finished reviewing the game. It does not mean the game failed. Flat-screen games are a separate category: Fallout 4, for example, is rated Playable for the headset, as we explained in Fallout 4 Rated Playable on Steam Frame.

Tips Before You Buy

  • Check the badge on the store page. Look for “Steam Frame Verified” on each game’s page, not just a list like this one. Ratings change as Valve reviews more games.
  • Plan around the battery. The Frame Verified curator measured about 1 hour 20 minutes standalone in Arizona Sunshine 2, another Verified game ($29.99, 84%). Short-session games make the most of each charge.
  • Glasses wearers: lens inserts make long sessions more comfortable. See our VR prescription lens inserts guide.
  • New to VR? Start with seated games such as Moss: Book II and I Expect You To Die 3, and read our guide to preventing VR motion sickness.
  • Also own a Quest? Most of these games are on Quest too. Our best co-op VR games and best Quest 3 games lists cover the same field from the Quest side.

Bottom Line

Start with the two Half-Life games. One is free in the box, and the other is free if you own Half-Life 2. Together they are the strongest case for the Steam Frame as a standalone headset. Then add Beat Saber for guests, Walkabout Mini Golf for playing with friends, and Moss: Book II for a story. The standalone library is still smaller than the Quest store, but every pick here is Verified or a native Valve port, so you will not be paying to test whether it runs. We will update this list as Valve certifies more games.
