Exoshock, the sci-fi co-op PvE shooter from PolarityOne and publisher VRAL Games, opens a free open beta on September 17, 2026. UploadVR reports it is the final free playtest before Early Access later this fall, and the build lands on Quest 3, Quest 3S, and PC VR via SteamVR — with flat-screen PC players in the same sessions.

That cross-play line is the operational detail. Studio materials and Steam’s short description frame Exoshock as built for VR first with non-VR support on the same systems, so a Quest squad and a monitor player are not split into separate queues. Solo runs are supported; co-op caps at four.
What the beta actually opens
Per UploadVR’s September 10 report and the game’s own site, the open beta covers single-player and 1–4 co-op contracts: board ships in transit, sabotage systems, extract data, eliminate targets under Basilisk Group / Division 9 framing. Missions are sold as dynamic — objectives can shift mid-run, and enemy forces adapt rather than run fixed waves.
Ahead of the 17th, PolarityOne already shipped a free Playtest App (Steam Demo button / store demo path). That staging build includes a shooting range, weapons and loadouts, a tutorial, and character customization so players can be ready when the beta window opens. Steam still lists the full title as Coming soon under app ID 3549390; Meta’s Quest listing is experience 9912140795471966 for Quest 3 / 3S.

Platform stack and prior hands-on
The official site says the game is powered by Unreal Engine. Founders Edition materials also name Steam Frame alongside SteamVR and Quest 3/3S as VR targets for keys at store launch — relevant this week with Steam Frame preorders open, but the open beta announcement UploadVR covered explicitly names SteamVR and Quest 3/3S, not a Frame-native SKU for day one of the beta.
UploadVR previously hands-on’d the Founder’s Edition build and called it “shaping up to be one of the most exciting shooters VR has seen in a long time.” Treat that as prior impression, not a fresh review of the September 17 build. Age rating on Quest Store DB mirrors Meta’s Mature 17+ tags for violence and blood.

Why the date matters this week
September 17 already stacks other VR drops on Metaverse Watcher’s calendar. Exoshock’s open beta is the free, cross-play shooter test in that window — and the last unpaid playtest before Early Access pricing kicks in later this fall. Wishlist and demo paths are live on Steam and the Quest Store; the studio’s hub is exoshockgame.com.
