Snap Q3 2026 earnings landed on November 4, 2026 with the company’s first profitable quarter of the year and a reminder that its biggest hardware bet is still pending. Revenue rose 14% to $1.72 billion and net income came in at $56 million, but CEO Evan Spiegel told analysts the company is “really looking forward to beginning to ship Specs later this fall,” according to The Verge. With November already under way, that leaves a narrow window for the $2,195 standalone AR glasses.
Investors focused on the user numbers instead. Snap shares fell more than 10% in after-hours trading after revenue and daily active users came in slightly below Wall Street estimates, CNBC reported.
Snap Q3 2026 earnings at a glance
All figures below come from Snap’s third quarter 2026 results release unless noted otherwise.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $1,722M | $1,507M | +14% |
| Net income (loss) | $56M | ($104M) | Swing to profit |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $383M | $182M | +110% |
| Operating cash flow | $210M | $146M | +44% |
| Free cash flow | $164M | $93M | +76% |
| Daily active users | 495M | 477M | +4% |
| North America DAU | 92M | 98M | -6% |
| Monthly active users | 977M | 943M | +4% |
| ARPU | $3.48 | $3.16 | +10% |
| Research and development | $477.7M | $453.4M | +5% |
| Full-time employees | 4,540 | 5,194 | -13% |
Against analyst expectations compiled by LSEG and StreetAccount, CNBC said revenue of $1.72 billion was just short of the $1.73 billion consensus, and DAU of 495 million missed the 499 million estimate. Adjusted earnings per share of $0.19 beat the $0.16 forecast, and Adjusted EBITDA of $383 million topped the $337 million analysts projected.

What Snap said about Specs
Specs were mentioned in the headline quote. “We continue to strengthen our business while investing in our long-term vision for augmented reality with the launch of SPECS,” Spiegel said in the release. Snap now runs the glasses business through Specs Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary.
Three details from the quarter matter most for anyone tracking the launch:
- Timing is unchanged, but still vague. Spiegel’s “later this fall” matches the window Snap has used since the glasses were unveiled in June. Snap has not published an exact ship date. Our smart glasses release tracker lists Specs at $2,195, or $2,395 with the cellular charging case.
- The spending is gated. Snap said its outlook “includes our planned investment in SPECS, which we continue to pace against product, ecosystem, and economic milestones.” In other words, the budget for the glasses can rise or slow depending on how the product and developer ecosystem perform.
- The pitch is practical. Snap’s prepared remarks pointed to a golf swing Lens built with input from PGA Professionals, editing documents on a virtual display, and enterprise remote-expert guidance for field technicians.
Snap is also running a “SPECS First Look” pop-up at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles, where the public can try the glasses ahead of shipping. The Specs account posted this week’s schedule shortly after the results came out:
Hands-on reports in recent weeks have been mixed. A New York street walk showed strong outdoor navigation and calling, as we covered in our Specs outdoor demo report. A longer press session in San Francisco raised concerns about runtime, as detailed in our Specs battery life hands-on roundup. Snap has also leaned on celebrity marketing, naming Robert Downey Jr. as honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer in October.
A leaner Snap funding an expensive bet
The quarter shows how Snap is paying for hardware. Full-time headcount fell 13% year over year to 4,540, and the company recorded $128.5 million in restructuring charges over the first nine months of 2026. Research and development spending still rose to $477.7 million in the quarter, up from $453.4 million a year earlier.
Cash generation is improving. Free cash flow for the first nine months reached $571 million, compared with $232 million in the same period of 2025, and Snap ended September with about $2.77 billion in cash and marketable securities. That cushion matters for a device category that has yet to prove mass-market demand. For context on how analysts size the category, see our look at the XR device sales forecast to 2030.
On the advertising side, CNBC reported that chief commercial officer Ronan Harris blamed softer spending from consumer packaged goods brands on “macro pressures in the U.S. and also the Middle East,” while pointing to growth in verticals such as financial services. Subscription products are a bright spot: Snap said paid subscribers across Snapchat+, Memories Storage and Lens+ passed 30 million.
Q4 outlook and a new headline metric
Snap guided fourth-quarter revenue to $1.950 billion to $1.985 billion and Adjusted EBITDA to $490 million to $525 million. CNBC noted that the revenue midpoint sits above the $1.95 billion analysts expected. Because the guidance includes planned Specs investment, the holiday quarter will be the first real test of how much the glasses cost Snap once units ship.
Snap also plans to replace daily active users with global monthly active users as its primary audience metric starting with its first-quarter 2027 report. The company said it does “not intend to optimize Snapchat around daily use at the expense of long-term value.” The change comes as North America DAU fell 6% year over year, to 92 million.
What to watch next
Specs are entering a crowded season. XREAL’s Aura launches at $1,099 with mid-November shipping, Samsung is preparing its first smart glasses for mid-December, and lower-cost standalone options such as INMO Future at $799 are arriving at the same time. At $2,195, Specs will need to justify a premium that none of those rivals ask for.
The key questions for the coming weeks are whether Snap announces a firm ship date before the holiday shopping peak, how many markets get the glasses at launch, and whether the Q4 results in early 2027 break out any Specs revenue.
